The Great Global Swindle…

That’s what I said!

Last month, Stéphane Dion called the upcoming federal election “among the most important in the history of our country.” He may be right. Next week’s vote will determine whether Canada’s tax system is overhauled through the imposition of a massive levy on carbon-based fuels; the nature of our continuing presence in Afghanistan; and how our government will respond to the historic meltdown unfolding in financial markets. Faced with these high stakes, we believe, Canada would be best served if Stephen Harper’s Conservative government were to receive a second mandate, this time in majority form.

That’s what I’ve been telling everyone but I’m surrounded by gay hippies.
Well, some are just gay, and others are just hippies.
But you know what I mean.

It’s the National Post’s Editorial Board commenting on the upcoming election.

This brings us to the main reason why we cannot endorse the Liberals. Putting aside Stéphane Dion’s reflexive leftward tilt on everything from foreign affairs to social issues, his “Green Shift” carbon-tax scheme is, by itself, enough to persuade us that he is the wrong man to be running this country. As our banking and financial-services sectors become strained by the worldwide credit crunch, this country is increasingly dependant on our oil and gas sector to sustain us through rough waters. Yet these are exactly the industries Mr. Dion wants to soak.

Dear GOD, I’m not alone. Hallelujah!!!
Like all elections, this one presents Canadians with a choice between imperfect options. But on balance, the Conservatives are clearly the best choice for this country. We urge our readers to vote accordingly on Oct. 14.

Two wolves and a lamb…

Publié dans Random le October 8th, 2008
“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.” -
    —  Benjamin Franklin

Some people like to add that Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the results.

YES, they can vote…

Many countries even allow their inmates to vote. Examples are Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Zimbabwe.[2] In Germany the law even calls on prisons to encourage prisoners to vote. Only those convicted of electoral fraud and crimes undermining the “democratic order”, such as treason are barred from voting, while in prison.[3]

Convicted felons in Canada can vote.

They can not vote in the United States of America.

Interesting.

Iraq was not a mistake.

Four years in Jail for eating during Ramadan…

Publié dans Random le October 7th, 2008

Algeria, six men have been arrested and charged with “eating during daytime before the end of Ramadan”.  Their sentence is four years in jail.  Wow.

I thought Algeria was a secular country.  Boy was I ever wrong.

Anti-Police graffitti…

Publié dans law and order le October 7th, 2008

This was mentioned in the 24 heures newpaper this morning.  No link to be found anywhere else.

This is on Jean Grou highschool in Rivière-des-Prairies, not far from Montréal-Nord.

It says “The police of Montreal North are murderers.”

You can tell that it’s a public highschool because POLICE if a feminin word, so the adjective should also be feminin:  Meurtrière.

Had it said The police officers (plural) would have required the adjective to be plural.

Oh well.  One more thug ready for the mean streets.

A swastica was also seen in the back of the school.  I think it could be unrelated, but I’d have to see if the paint is similar to the writing.  A swastica seems off topic in this case.  An odd choice if it is related.

Cameras are everywhere, but they weren’t in working order.  How nice.

Police will be investigating, but chances are, nothing will come of it.

No to communism…

This says “57 billion dollars in surplus and nothing for those on welfare.”

Good.  I’m glad.  Do like me and get a job, ya losers!

Of course, I’m a heretic for saying such a thing.  We are a welfare society.  Handouts and free meals are proof that we are good, charitable human beings as a whole.

Which is fine, in a sense.

But why do we reward the poor and punish the successful?  Some people work very hard to make it and when they do become wealthy, we start to hate them because they don’t give their money away for the poor.

Where’s the logic in that?

Eat the rich, f##k the rich, hang the rich…  We’ve all heard that before.  Why?  I thought we were all aiming for the American Dream.  Wouldn’t those who hate trade places immediately with a rich person and NOT give their money to the poor?  So why the double standard?

Communism is for the poor and politicians who use them.  I don’t want to be poor.

Jack Layton hearts the taliban…

Publié dans Random le October 7th, 2008

There’s a video here from the National Post by Global News.

It’s from October 5th, I hope the link holds long enough for you to see it.

We’re talking about Afghanistan and our war with the taliban.  The news report mentions that despite our best intentions and “significant lose of life”, we can’t win.  I guess they’ve never heard of the lose of life in WWII which were truely significant and where we created strong democracies both in Germany and Japan.

Britain’s top soldier says that the war in Afghanistan can’t be won, that the best we can do is manage the problem to a reasonable level.

Jack Layton, as expected, said he was “heartened to hear it”.

Reports on Police Shootings in Montreal…

Publié dans Random le October 6th, 2008
Court records reveal Abdullah was arrested by Montreal police for marijuana possession on Jan. 23, three weeks after his 18th birthday. He was also arrested by police in Sherbrooke, Que. on April 28 for breaking and entering, possession of an instrument used for breaking in and mischief for damaging property.

The records say he failed to make a court appearance in both cases in June.

Montreal police also wanted to speak to him about a stabbing on Sept. 6, the source said. In that incident, a 27-year-old man was stabbed twice in the upper body and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Two suspects left the scene before police arrived. There is no arrest warrant in the case.

Abdullah remained in stable condition in hospital Sunday, the Surete du Quebec, which is investigating the shooting, said.

Last week the SQ handed in their report on the fatal shooting of Fredy Villanueva in Montreal North. The shooting sparked a night of rioting and prompted calls for better relations between police and the local community. Villanueva, 18, was shot on Aug. 9 when an altercation broke out while Montreal police officers were trying to arrest his brother.

So we get the impression that Montreal Cops are really rough with victims.

I spoke to a haitian security guard, a man who came here for training until he goes back to being a senior officer in his police force in Haiti.

He told me that if this situation was in Haiti, a lot more punks would be dead.  We have two punks being shot in two months, but he was unimpressed.

He told me the Canadian Charter of Rights should be changed.  He told me the immigration laws should be strengthened.  At the very least, we should be enforcing the existing laws.

He gave me a number of illegals who come into Quebec every month from the USA and it’s in the thousands, apparently.  This means guns can come in at will, drugs go to an fro at will.  Illegals in the USA who are wanted by the authorities can come here at will.

Gangs in Montreal are a threat to the fabric of our society.  Our laws and the political will to apply our laws is weak at best.

In Christophe’s words, we’re in trouble and we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.  He was an advocate for a socialogical approach, not just a law enforcement approach.  But he knows that gangs are outside of the law.  They commit crimes in spite of our laws.  He believes Quebec is too lax with our gang problems, if not weak.

But perhaps there is some hope.  My socialist/tax loving mayor spoke up supporting the cops of our brave city (for once!)…

The family of an 18-year-old man shot by a Montreal police officer in St.Michel over the weekend is demanding the city for an apology.

But Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay says with evidence proving the suspect threatened officers with a knife, there’s no way they’re getting one.

Nashwan Abdullah was shot in the stomach Saturday afternoon while trying to avoid his arrest in connection with a stabbing in early September.

Tremblay says police officers have a right to protect themselves, and that if you’re going to pull a weapon on a cop, you’re going to get hurt.
