You're right Claude, it's no total war, it's counter insurgency.

When the USSR was in Afghanistan, their tactics were less controled, less efficient. They caused a lot more collateral dammage, they failed to get support from the locals.

When Hitler took over a new country, he wasn't building schools and paving roads.

All the talk of "american imperialism" and the New World Order is irrelevant. It has no basis in fact.

We're all trying to make this a better world so countries like Afghanistan won't ever again become the launchpad for terrorist attacks on our soil.

That's why we went there in the first place. Jean Chrétien did the right thing.

Then again, in the english debate last week, Stephen Harper said we would be there until the Afghans could take over -without mentioning 2011.

We could very well see canadian specialists and trainers there beyond that date.

Afghanistan is not really a "WAR" in the true sense of the word. It's really a "protection" against the Taliban abuses, a "training" of an Afghanistan Army, and Police force, an "encouragement" for the establishment of a democracy against extremists insurgents. That's why our soldiers are there. Actually, Prime Minister Harper has already fixed a withdrawal date. We're not fighting the Afghanistans, we're fighting WITH them against their enemies. Of course there will always be Talibans. We're hoping the Afghans are learning to handle the problems on their own. There will always be the need of a military presence there. It would be naive to think otherwise. But the numbers of Canadian, British, American, French soldiers will diminish considerably. It's to our honour that we are helping in Afghanistan.

The problems with politicians like Layton and Dion are that they are giving strentgh to the Talibans by complaining and criticizing our military efforts. In doing so, they are putting our soldiers in danger. In WW2, they would have been put in jail for saying that we couldn't win...

That's where I am right now. I'm wondering when I should get Jazz a new zombie-fighting partner, and when will I be ready to love another pet.

All I can say is "not this week". In one of my zombie videos, I say something that haunts me.

I say at one point "He thinks I can do magic. I let him believe that."

I can't do magic. He loved me unconditionally. He trusted me to the end.

All I did was to stop him from suffering.

It's tough...Don't blame yourself. It's not a question of money. You didn't even know how old Mouthe was. Even with all the money in the world, Denny couldn't save Ashley and Doofus. Most people say when you loose a pet, go and get another one right away. That's what Denny did. It never worked for me. I always had to wait a few months. Never had the courage to give my love again so soon. At one point I said: Never again. It's my loss, of course. It would be better for Jazz if you get a new friend...

Don't worry about it, Claude.

I rarely find good people who have my point of view on the issues. We have differences on the details, but we see the value of the medias against those who are truely making this a better world.

David Suzuki fell in my esteem when I learned more about the United Nations, Amnesty Intl, Greenpeace and the mainstream media.

The day I accepted the fact that my father, a gun owner, was NOT a criminal and that guns don't kill people, many issues changed in my mind.

And I was in my early/mid thirties.

I got there late in life (in my humble opinion), but some will never see the forest for the trees. It's right there, but it's a state of mind.

So long as these people keep hating conservatives instead of the real threats to our society, they'll never change.

BTW, microsoft movie maker is at it again, I can't edit my films without crashing repeatedly. It's frustrating. I'll work some more on it tomorrow and hopefully, I'll be able to post three videos.

Parts 1 and 2 are the Suzuki interview he did this spring on CHOM fm.

Part 3 is an interview he did around the same time in Ontario, this time with an interviewer who didn't eat up his every word. Good interview. More on that later.

I was still young (well...in my early 40s) when David started to appear on CBC. I called him BOGUS...I had friends who were true scientists. We laughed at him. I wrote letters after letters to CBC asking the program to invite real scientists to refute his theories. To no avail. Suzuki had influential friends among the liberals. And CBC was sold out to socialism. Now the liberals are losing votes to the Green Party...Justice has a way of winning!!!

I hope you don't mind if I always jump in in your posts. You're always talking of things which interest me greatly.
