This has an impact on Canada. Things have to change, and Obama has no idea how to bring about CHANGE.
This has an impact on Canada. Things have to change, and Obama has no idea how to bring about CHANGE.
The Prime Minister said the Liberal proposal to combat greenhouse gases by hiking taxes on fossil fuels – and offsetting those with income and corporate tax cuts – “is the last thing that Canada needs now.“Those prices increased a lot recently. And Stéphane Dion thinks it’s a good time to impose a massive new tax to energy users?” Harper said, according to a prepared text of his remarks.
He said Dion’s explanations of the Liberal proposal were “incomprehensible.
“But it is very simple – it’s a tax that hurts people who use energy,” Harper said.
“In other words, this new tax, invented by the Liberals (emphasis by me), will hurt everyone – and everything without exception,” he said.
“I give you my word. As long as I will be prime minister … there will be no new taxes.”
I just wish the 41st President of the United States had never said “Read my lips…”
David Suzuki must be so disappointed… I’m sure he’s out there, somewhere weeping. Or throwing another hissy fit.
Neither he or the puppetmaster are getting credit for inventing the Carbon Taxe sham. You may remember that Suzuki was having wet dreams of pulling 50B$ out of thin air with his Canadian Carbon Tax. None of it would come from regular folks like us, of course. Noooo, he’d never do that to us, now would he? No, just the big blue Meannies who produce oil…and those who use oil.
This blog mentions that David Suzuki is leaving Canada anyway, in some kind of swap between Australian and Canadian environmentalists. A change of scenery will do him good.
It was thought that the trade was motivated by the fact that Dr. Suzuki and Maude Barlow suffer from a rare medical condition called demographic lockjaw that apparently can only be relieved by foreign travel to Australia. Dr. Suzuki has never been able to say publicly that Canada is in overshoot, but while he is in Australia, a country in the same ecological boat, he has no problem finding his tongue and telling interviewers that the land is overpopulated.
Actually, that’s not true. In a recent interview on CHOM FM radio, Suzuki planted a question (read by Ted Bird) about over population, and his answer was “education”. The more education you offer women-in India, for example- the less children they have. No mention on Canada’s population though. Or Australia for that matter.
On that day, Suzuki even mentioned the griping against him, mentionning that CO2 levels and sunspots, but didn’t take a single second to offer a rebuttle. Of course, he couldn’t since THE SUN’S ACTIVITY IS WHAT MOST LIKELY INFLUENCES EARTH’S SURFACE TEMPERATURE, he could never have offered any actual proof of anything else being the #1 cause. And he didn’t mention that according to measurements made in Antarctica, current CO2 levels are extremely LOW (385ppm).
But why bother a good story with facts, right?

…and good riddance. *grumbles under his breath* “…liberal rubbish…”
So, a poll says that Netanyahu is in the lead to replace Olmert. This of course is good news to me, but polls are polls and no poll ever expected Jean Chretien to win in a landslide, or Mario Dumont to nearly miss becoming Quebec’s premier instead of Charest.
Netanyahu, although he is my favorite, will still work under Israel’s President Shimon Perez, who as you may know is even more liberal than Olmert.
So this isn’t a done deal.
Scary. He’s not even trying to hide it. To him, Obama’s victory spells victory for him and his repressive regime. It’s spells victory against da joos too.
And liberals say “don’t bomb Iran”?!

Nice. We saw german crowds swoon for Obama, but this is also what Obama saw on his world tour.
I’m glad.

Jennifer Rubin at Pajamas Media has an excellent commentary of BHO’s tour in the Middle East and Europe…
And finally, Obama’s mega-gaffe in snubbing the wounded troops in Germany (with the excuse he wouldn’t want to use campaign funds for such a visit) left even the MSM scratching their heads. There could be no perfect example of the argument McCain has been making: this is a callow man whose ego blinds him to the sacrifice of military service. Coming on the heels of news that Obama is already planning his White House transition, it seemed to put new emphasis on the question the McCain camp has been implicitly asking, “Who does he think he is?”
Surrounded by liberal reporters and basking in the admiration of german crowds, Obama was setting himself up for a good time without confrontation. But then even leftist reporters will ask relevant questions eventually and the voters back home will have their own opinion no matter how many Germans Obama attracts.
Hopefully, American voters will vote on the issues, not on the cult of personality and not just for the tone of his skin.
Hizbullah declared a national holiday for the prisoner exchange celebrations and the country’s leadership promptly agreed - Hizbullah flags flying next to the Cedar of Lebanon in Beirut, the president himself attending the festivities and another official opportunity to declare victory over Israel. On the Israeli side of the frontier there is nothing but acrimony, bitterness and rancor.
Unbelievable. Ehud Olmer has done miracles for Hassan Nasrallah…
“What miracles you do for strangers…”
-Don Corleon, to his son Michael who returned from the army.

The cover page illustration of the New Yorker goes too far, imho.
But not by much…
Osama bin Laden doesn’t get any direct support from Obama. He’ll simply appease and ignore bin Laden, in addition to gutting the US’s military. So no direct support, that part is false.
Michelle Obama doesn’t carry a gun around. They hate guns. Senator Obama has voted to ban handguns, even front loading guns. Oh, he’ll make sure gangs and organised crime keep their guns, but legal guns? No way.
Barrak Hussein Obama ISN’T IN THE OVAL OFFICE YET. Not now, not ever, actually. Won’t happen.
The rest of the cartoon is right on the nose. And I’m not offended. Quite insulting to Obama, since he will see this as racist and islamophobe.
I think the picture is actually quite relevant, since it depicts details of Obama’s life, things from his past and his dream for the futur (the Oval Office).
I just hope that Obama has seen some change in his life. I hope he won’t be so afrocentric in the futur.
