SHTF: Algeria…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le August 21st, 2008

Al Qaeda has been rocking Algeria pretty bad…and it’s been under my radar.  Sorry about that.

LONDON (Reuters) - Al Qaeda’s north African wing has claimed responsibility for two car bombs in Algeria which killed 12 people and wounded 42 this week, the Al Jazeera television network said on Thursday.

This site mentions a lot of deaths since 1992…

Violence began in Algeria in 1992 when a military-backed government scrapped elections a radical Islamic party was poised to win. About 150,000 people have died in the ensuing violence.

The Canadian Press counts the attacks off up to 2006…

A look at attacks over the last two years:

Aug. 19 - A suicide car bomber rams into a police academy, killing 43 and leaving 45 injured, according to government estimates.

Jan. 29 - A car loaded with explosives and headed for a police station explodes in northern Algeria, killing at least three and leaving 23 wounded.

They are clearly under attack.

Bon courage mes amis.  Ne baissez pas les bras.  Ne vous laissez pas abattre (litéralement).

Another Taliban threat to Canadians…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le August 17th, 2008
Just days after insurgents shot and killed two Canadian aid workers in eastern Afghanistan, the Taliban is warning similar attacks will occur.

The extremist group issued the warning in a letter posted on the internet, and the CBC confirmed its authenticity on Sunday after talking to Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid in Kandahar province.

The letter said Canadians should pressure their government to withdraw Canada’s troops from Afghanistan and follow a neutral policy regarding Afghanistan or “the Afghans will be obliged to killed your nationals.”

Yeah, “let us loot, murder, rape and sell opium or we’ll kill you”.  Sure.

“The Afghans did not go to Canada to kill Canadians. Rather it is the Canadians who came to Afghanistan to kill and torture the Afghans to please the fascist regime of America,” the letter said.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Sunday the threat toward Canadians is nothing more than a propaganda exercise and that it won’t affect the government’s policy on Afghanistan.

You know who else didn’t come to Canada?  Hitler.

Canadians are already aware of the risks when they go outside the wire.  Nothing has changed.  Our values will prevail, so long as we keep Dion and (perish the thought) Layton out of the Prime Minister’s chair.

Latin-American soldiers off to A’stan…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le August 7th, 2008

Colombie, the first country in South America to send troops over to Afghanistan will boost Spain’s forces already there.

Spain will provide the Colombian troops with training, infrastructure and even equipment, according to El Pais. Many of the soldiers of the Spanish army serving on missions abroad are already Colombian immigrants.

The Colombian participation was expected to facilitate Spain’s task in maintaining order in restless Baghdis province.

For Colombia, its presence in Afghanistan will reinforce its position as a privileged partner of the United States and Latin American allies, according to the daily.

Fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan could also boost the Colombian government’s efforts to present its domestic Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) as a terrorist organization.

Spain has a contingent of about 800 soldiers in Afghanistan as part of the ISAF.

This is good news to me. I’ve often felt that South America contributes much to the drug problems in the west, but does nothing in the sense of “making this a better world”. My opinion is based on a lack on knowledge, since I don’t see what’s being done on a day to day basis in Chile, Brazil or Columbia.

We can’t know you if we never see you.

Having Colombia troops fighting alongside Canadians is good news. Welcome to the team. Bienvenido, y gracias.

Situation: Normal AFU in China

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le August 5th, 2008
The Muslim men who killed 16 police officers in western China were waging a “holy war”, the Chinese authorities claimed today, as inhabitants of the city of Kashgar prepared themselves for a security clampdown in the aftermath of the attack. (…)

…after the devastating attack yesterday when two men drove a truck into a group of border patrolmen, threw two bombs, and set about the survivors with knives. (…)

When the Olympic torch passed through Kashgar, the authorities announced a curfew and a shoot-to-kill policy against those who violated it, according to local people. “If they arrest people, it takes a few days before you hear about it, because the news does not report it, and the families of those people are too afraid to speak out,” said one Uighur.(…)

Jesus H. Christ!  Isn’t that just the perfect place to hold the Olympic Games?  Where all sides can confront each other in peaceful games and work things out?  Where we’re all imposed a curfew equally, all threatened by terrorists and can’t get two words from the locals?

Isn’t Communism great?  Solves all the problems.

The Chinese government is NOT fascist.  It’s Communist.  NOT the same at all.  It’s 99.9% more efficient than America in silencing the opposition.

“I am happy and sad,” one Uighur told The Times. “I’m happy because this was a brave act and it shows that Uighurs have courage and resist the government to get our independence. But I’m sad because this will mean more pressure on us.”

…the courage to kill 16 police officers.  That makes no sense.

Murder on your road to independance?  That’s an act of war.

Fighting oppression will cause you more oppression?  Welcome to Communist China.

China should never have gotten the Olympic Games.  That’s like having the United Nations giving the Nobel Peace Prize to Yasser Arafat or Adolf Hitler:  It makes no sense.

Good news?

Terror on a Greyhound bus…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le July 31st, 2008
A 40-year-old man is in custody in Manitoba after a young man was stabbed — and, witnesses said, decapitated — aboard a Greyhound bus travelling through the province overnight.

It appears that indeed, he was decapitated.

Police arrived at the bus about 10 minutes after the incident began, according to witnesses. The attacker mocked police as they closed the highway in both directions and surrounded the bus. RCMP officers led the passengers on to school buses where they waited for the standoff to end. From their seats, they could see the attacker dangling his victim’s head from his hand. “He picked the head up, looked at the cops, dropped the head and walked back to the body,” Cody Olmstead, who was seated three seats in front of the incident, told the Free Press.

So what do we think of all this?

Does this inspire trust or fear?

Perhaps it inspires terror in those who travel by bus?

#1: They are already here… (not just muslims, but radical muslims who side with bin Laden and would approve Sharia Law being applied in Canada)

” …don’t tell..”

#2: They do have an agenda (there once was a caliphate, they would love to see one cover the whole world-radical muslims would love that, not necessarily muslims at large)

“…take back Rome…”

#3: Liberals will not fight terrorism (nor will they realise they’re under attack until it is too late)

Neville Chamberlain was honest and proud…and WRONG.

#4: Our boys are the good guys (and it’s not an occupation. It’s just as valid as WWII, WWI, Corea, Viet Nam, Yom Kippur, the Boer war, the American Revolution or fighting the British by the Patriotes or fighting Ghengis Khan… whatever. Our side is the good side. That’s why we like “our side”. That’s why we stay here and why we plan to never, EVER leave this place.)

Terror weapon of choice: Tractors?!

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le July 27th, 2008

I wonder.

We’ve all seen these on the roads in Quebec.  Tractors.  Front loaders and excavation tractors.

But have you heard the news from Israel?  Have you?

Did you know that a front loader just like this one was used in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem in early July this year?

Did you know that days later, a tractor just like this one was used in a copycat terrorist attack?

I wonder if Canadians noticed that.  My folks didn’t.  They hadn’t heard of it.

Although there have already been other terrorist attacks in Israel since then, my thoughts go out to all my israeli friends from Youtube.  The enemy is at your gates, and we barely have time to mention anything other than “Canada loves Obama” over here.

And whenever journalists try to do a balanced report on a situation, don’t they forget the truly hostile nature of Israel’s enemies.  Don’t they water down the fundamental truth behind each story?

The main stream media is doing a lousy job.

I’ve heard a lot of griping and some heartfelt hatred towards Dan Rather and his agenda against George W. Bush.  I heard that and I agree to some extent.

But my suggestion would be to have these excellent reporters go deep into a story and then have another reporter go deep into the other side of the coin.

Perhaps this way, we’d have truely interesting and informative news reports, replacing the beige news coverage we get now.

I don’t know.  I’m not happy with the MSM.  It stinks to high heaven.  Six years now that I don’t watch tv, and I don’t miss it one bit.

Samir Kantar is free…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le July 24th, 2008

…free to fall back into the fold, to go back to hating Jews and possibly train the next generation of terrorists.

Now this isn’t fact. It’s just my opinion. But based on this AP picture that was on the Jerusalem Post website, I’m convinced I’m not too far from the truth.

This may or may not be valid in the eyes of the AP, but I use this picture for educational purposes only. Yes, the AP holds the rights to this picture but I want the whole world to know that Samir Kantar has been released after 28 years of captivity for killing four israelis (including a young girl). This man killed Jews way back in 1979, and now that he’s free, we find him giving us a nazi salute.

Reformed? Reeducated? Tortured? Doesn’t seem that way.

And quite a reception he gets from Hezbollah. LFG has a video from MEMRI tv. The “hero” has come home.

NOTE: The Jerusalem Post has a Pictures of the Week slideshow. It’s always beautiful and impressive. Well worth checking out.
