Webcam shows Montreal-downtown
I was on Google, doing a search for marigold, the word. It was mentioned in this book I own, Dave Letterman’s Top Ten lists. This is a bit random but it goes to show how being hooked up to the internet sometimes leads you to interesting things. Having a computer without an internet connection is like an electric razor…when the power is out.
Ok, so the list was Top Ten bioengineering projects in devellopment. #3 is: Angry, growling, hissing marigold.
So here I am, not familiar with what marigold is. I’m familiar with the flower itself, it’s sold here and it looks great when you have hundreds of them, it carpets an area with one color. Very nice. I don’t care for them. I never took the time to learn their name in french either.
So I google marigold and out comes pictures. But I seach google WEB to see if it’s not something else…an address. California, in San Berdino.
Of course, the Frank Zappa song comes into my brain and I smile.
So I look for names I recognise, and Inglewood appears. Compton. Santa Monica. Not far from L.A. Not far from Hollywood.
I use google maps to locate the Hollywood sign because I can’t tell which freeway goes there.
BOOM. Webcam of the Hollywood sign. Boring, it’s not always pointed to the Hollywood sign and it’s 2 AM over there…
Hm. Well let’s find a webcam where it’s day time… Like…Israel. No go, the one I find is offline.
But that site has webcams of streets in major cities like London, Stockholm and Berlin. Web cams come and go offline, so check Still, you can find webcams from Russia, Chicago, the Panama Canal, that kind of thing. Interesting. #85 was a CBC Montreal webcam, but when I went back to that site, #85 was some other location. Still, I think it’s an interesting site to visit.
Now if you want to see the weather over my city, go here: LINK.
This other web cam is in the Old Port, smaller size, not as intersting.
You may be interested to know that the weather in Montreal tends to change overnight. Claude knows this already, Ontario has fairly similar weather patterns. If you live in the Canary Islands, then you’ve never seen weather patterns like this (you lucky b4stards!).
Frankly, I wouldn’t want to move. I’d leave Quebec for political reasons (like separation/sovereignty), but I’d always miss the climat. Arizona would be nice, Vancouver would be nice, Melbourne would be nice. But it just wouldn’t be the same. It wouldn’t feel like home on Chrismas day…
Now this wasn’t my typical web surfing incident, but it was one of the most random. It started with an old book in my library and ended with a webcam you can log on and see what the weather is like in my neck of the woods. AND THEY’RE ANNOUNCING SEVER RAIN STORMS FOR THE WEEKEND! WOOOT!!!

If you have a web cam in your area, feel free to share, guys.
NOTE: Yes, I was a Liberal most of my life, my heros include John Lennon, John Cleese and David Letterman to this day. I won’t apologise.

Thanks! Fun to see Montreal grayish day at the sametime than my sisters. I’ll look again when I phone them tonight. The weather is updated every 15 seconds! Marigold is called souci.
My mother was a strong liberal, very politically active. She was the President of le Club Wilfrid Laurier des Femmes Libérales. She brought me to Ottawa to meet Prime Minister King for my 18th Birthday. We stayed at Chateau Laurier. We had lunch with Jean Lesage who was then a Senator. He became the Premier of Quebec later on and started the Quiet Revolution. We met Gaspard Fauteux who was l’Orateur de la Chambre des Communes. I held the Hammer he used to call the M.P.s to attention. I’m proud of those memories. I believe strongly that if my mother would be alive today, she would become a conservative as I have done. Times have changed.
