Full speed towards…the National Post?!
Dion’s Green Shift will indeed lead to a richer, fairer, greener Canada. (…)The arguments against the Dion plan advanced by the National Post in an editorial on June 20 (”The Liberals’ tax shift”) are all either dead wrong or misguided. (…)At least in principle, our Green Shift is supported by virtually all market-oriented economists. (…)
Isn’t it fun to listen to John McCallum? He’s printed in the National Post to bury an editorial printed on the National Post. All the arguments of the sophiticated leftists are here:
- Utopian promises.
- Destruction of any kind of opposition.
- Sophisms and generalisations.

The principle of this policy is supported by environmentalists from David Suzuki on down, and by economists from Joseph Stiglitz on down. So when Stephen Harper labels our plan “crazy economics,” one has to ask whether his politics is not trumping his economics. Indeed, the unanimity of serious economists in favour of a carbon tax rivals the unanimity of serious economists in opposing Harper’s earlier cuts in GST.The arguments against the Dion plan advanced by the National Post in an editorial on June 20 (”The Liberals’ tax shift”) are all either dead wrong or misguided.
Oh boy. He said the “S” word… He goes on to discredit the criticisms of Dion’s plan, point by point. He uses the words “DEAD WRONG” three times, and then when that gets old, he adds that he disagrees.
You can read the parrot’s words here.
The key point that I fear and that McCallum ignores is this: Taxing only the polluters…means our companies will be taxed. These companies will make LESS money. Their employees will suffer. Their families will suffer. If enough companies get taxed (50B$ worth according to David Suzuki himself…) then enough Canadian citizens will indirectly get taxed with their jobs and livelihood.
We are the companies. We are the big enterprises who create jobs. Our bank loans depend on our companies making money so they can pay our salaries.
Telling me that “the little people” won’t be taxed, only the “big evil companies who pollute” is bullshit.
The carbon tax hoax has to stop. We’re going to be robbed indirectly for eternity if this goes through.
Vote against Stephane Dion, vote against the Liberals and more especially, vote against David Suzuki/Al Gore.
They’re lying to us. It’s a hoax. We don’t need a carbon tax. They want to make money even if it’s a burden on the canadian economy. This is just their newest way to hurt their enemies of old: Conservative oil producers.
Taxing “Big Oil”, choking their profits will not bring the price of gas down. And…isn’t that a problem these days? Most of us own cars, right? Any complaints so far?
Why do we hate gas producers? Don’t we need them?
Congratulations John McCallum, you memorised all the key points of the enviro-socialists. For all your efforts, you get the Full Speed Ahead award.
