“There is nothing wrong with Mr. Steyn expressing his view as long as he does not cross the line with respect to Section 7-1 of the British Columbia Act.”
Section 7-1 deals with discriminatory publication. It stipulates that a person must not publish or cause to be published anything that discriminates against a person or group, or exposes them to hatred or contempt.
Remember: The defendants pay their lawyers. The “bereaved muslims” do not.
And just check out this link and see how “bereaved” these individuals really are.
“Because of bin Laden?” “Yes,” said the doctor.
Mr. Porter pressed further, suggesting to the witness that Muslim terrorists had much to do with rising anxiety in the West, that Osama bin Laden might attack again, that the witness and other Muslims might have something to fear, that North Americans “have the right to say ‘my God, what might happen next?’ “
Dr. Habib agreed.
“Aren’t you worried that there will be another attack?”
“Yes,” said Dr. Habib. “I’m worried.”
And that, argued Mr. Porter, is precisely the point, and the reason this hearing makes little sense. People agree that Muslim extremists are “the most central issue of our existence in North America today. How we deal with the bin Ladens is a huge issue, and so that writers must write about it Those are my questions.”
The hearing is expected to finish today, after closing arguments.
That’s the problem with logic. You either side with bin Laden and you’re a true victim of islamophobia, or you denounce bin Laden and you’re with all other Canadians, fearful of another terrorist attack. This obviously leads YOU to understand that Canadians are concerned and want to discuss the terrorist threats we see around the world, but more especially the terrorist cells right here in Canada that have cropped up.
We want to talk about that.
Otherwise, you’ll shoot down (no pun intended) anything that’s not pro-islam, even against the greater good of the canadian population.
You don’t need a permit to be free.
It’s an inalienable right.
Freedom of the press is part of that.
