Screw the United Nations…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le mai 11th, 2008

This comes from Israel.  Again…

The pre-Sabbath peace in Kibbutz Kfar Aza was shattered when a mortar bomb struck the front yard of Jimmy Kedoshim’s house. Kedoshim, who was working in the garden, was killed instantly. His wife, Anna, who had gone inside the house a little while before, was spared. The kibbutznik, who had lived in Kfar Aza since 1974, left three children, Eyal, Shaked and Stav.

Kedoshim’s oldest son, Eyal, said of his father, “Abba (father) died happy. The only thing in life that interested him was his family, and everything he did for the sake of the family was done with a lot of love, openness and cooperation with Ima (mother) and with us, his children.”

This is the first death caused by mortar fire since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. A second mortar shell exploded next to the kibbutz community hall, wounding three people, including an IDF soldier who sustained moderate injuries.

Over the weekend, terrorists launched 21 Kassam rockets at the western Negev, five falling in Sderot. A total of five people were lightly wounded, mostly by flying shrapnel, and at least that many suffered emotional shock.

Where’s the dignity?  Where’s the honor?

WHERE is the United Nations on this continuous attack on a democratic state that gives arab israelis the right to vote?  Wasn’t the UN supposed to fight injustice in this world?

Instead, we hear of “apartheid state” and “occupation”, but what would you do if you got Ehud Olmert’s job?

Bonne fête des mères…

Happy Mothers Day everyone.

I talk to my mom every week, sometimes twice a week.

It’s the little things that count.  I always feel that I don’t do enough for my mom, but she loves to talk on the phone for hours.

And we usually don’t have too much to say, but neither of us minds.

Sir Paul is “annoying”…

Hehehehe, I could have told you that. You know who else? BONO!

London, England (CNS) - Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney is the most irritating music star of all time, according to an online poll by a U.K. music website.Musicmagpie.com’s viewers find the 65-year-old music icon to be the most annoying pop celebrity. He beats James Blunt and Lily Allen in the top.

The website’s spokesperson Craig Dawson explains, “It’s easy for musicians to get very irritating very quickly. Macca has driven people up the wall with his ‘holier than thou’ approach to his divorce, two-fingered peace gesture and penchant for wearing trainers with suits.”

1) Paul McCartney

2) James Blunt

3) Lily Allen

4) Robbie Williams

5) Amy Winehouse

6) Bono

7) Sir Cliff Richard

8 ) Pete Doherty

9) Joss Stone

10) Craig David

Muscle car?

Publié dans Random le mai 10th, 2008

I was on Demaisoneuve today, corner DeLorimier…

I saw one of those go by.  A white Chevrolet Caprice and I fell in love.

Basically, this is a muscle-car, right?  I mean think about it.  By today’s stardard?

It was white, looked beat up somewhat and the rear mags didn’t fit the front wheels, but it had personality.

And the three guys on board seemed ready for a road trip.  Well have fun, gentlemen.  I wish I could join you.

Quote of the day…

If there is hope, it lies with the Prols. -Winston Smith (talking about proletarians who might someday use the power of their numbers to overthrow the fascist government)

Winston Smith is a character created by George Orwell for his book 1984.

Not buried here…

Publié dans Heros le mai 9th, 2008

Just saw this on LGF.

picture of:  Howard Cain

The leadership of the Germantown Masjid has refused to conduct funeral services for Howard Cain, the bank robber who killed Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski with a Chinese-made semi-automatic rifle.

“No, we will not bury him at Germantown Masjid,” said Tariq El Shabazz, managing director of the mosque. “We don’t want one slight scintilla hinting that we condone his behavior.”

Once upon a time, Frank Zappa debated on tv against censorship based on seven “vulgar” words.

I have come to appreciate words to some extent recently.

Harsh words reveal something very precise.

Pleasant words reveal something very precise.

“WON’T BURY HIM HERE” means something. Actions and the right words that go with the actions.

Right on. Thanks you Mr. Tariq El Shabaz, I applaud your decision although this won’t go too well with parts of the community.

Stand up. Be counted. Thank you.

“relief in cash and kind”

Publié dans politics le mai 9th, 2008

The UN was surprised to see the government in Burma confiscate the help relief they sent.

In a statement in the official media after Burma turned back a team of Qatari rescue workers coming in on an aid flight this week, the fcreign ministry said Burma would accept “relief in cash and kind” but not foreign aid workers.

Incredible.

YANGON — Burma’s junta impounded two U.N. food aid shipments at Yangon airport today, officials said, triggering more outrage at the military government’s refusal to accept a major international relief operation.

And check it out, it’s a lot of food even if it’s nowhere near enough for all those who are bereaved…

The two shipments, 38 tonnes of high-energy biscuits, were enough to feed 95,000 people — a tiny fraction of the estimated 1.5 million destitute survivors of Cyclone Nargis, which ripped into the southeast Asian nation six days ago.

“It should be on trucks headed to the victims. You’ve seen the conditions they are in. That food is now sitting on a tarmac doing no good,” Mr. Banbury said.

I shouldn’t be surprised to see a government screwing up it’s population this way, but I am.

Incredible.

Hezbollah peacefully moving foreward…

Publié dans Terrorism/armed conflicts le mai 9th, 2008

BEIRUT — Lebanon’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah took control of the Muslim part of Beirut on Friday, tightening its grip on the city in a major blow to the U.S.-backed government.

Security sources said at least 11 people had been killed and 30 wounded in three days of battles between pro-government gunmen and fighters loyal to Hezbollah, a Shi’ite political movement with a powerful guerrilla army.

The European Union, Germany and France urged calm and a peaceful resolution. Syria said the issue was an internal Lebanese affair while Iran blamed “the adventurist interferences” of the United States and Israel for the violence. (…)

If Hezbollah are fighting to defend the people of Lebanon (ie: Freedom fighters), then how come they come in guns blazing, sometimes attacking neighboring Israel without a clear mandate by Lebanon, or this time attacking the Lebanese people themselves? How can anyone blame the United States and Israel on this one? It’s a civil war scenario. It’s Hezbollah muscling in to take a better position.

IT IS. Deal with it.

FIREFLY on Blu-ray

Publié dans commentary le mai 8th, 2008

Once upon a time, I would have said “screw FOX” for cancelling a series which instantly proved to be better than STAR TREK.

Today… and I know this is sacreligeous amongst Browncoats… I say SCREW JOSS WEDON.

A girlfriend of mine lent me the first season of BUFFY, and then went on to say “don’t worry, it picks up on the fourth episode. AND the other seasons get better and better.”

Bitch, I watched the intro to The Train Job on tv and called my sister during the commercial so she could watch it too. Don’t tell me that crap gets better after Joss wasted perfectly good film on 17 episodes prior to that!

She hadn’t seen Firefly, and loved it as soon as she borrowed my DVD box set. *rolls eyes* Big surprise…

To tell you the truth, I’ve seen better since. I felt like I lost some friends when I finished watching Twin Peaks. Once I finish watching The L Word, I’ll feel the same, if not more so.
